Week of February 24th

In Writing, students continued working through the writing process with their second fairy tale adaptation. In Reading, students read a non-fiction article, “Egg-cellent Bird Parents” and used evidence to support their answer for a discussion. In Math, students compared unit fractions. In Social Studies, students learned about the elements of culture.

Week of February 17th

In Writing, students began planning their second fairy tale adaptation. In Reading, students read and analyzed the Junior Great Books story “The Emperor’s New Clothes”. In Math, students identified fractions greater than one whole and compared unit fractions. In Social Studies, students described the Aztec’s culture.

Week of February 10th

In Writing, students finished up their first fairy tale adaptation. In Reading, students read and analyzed the Junior Great Books folktale “The Banza”. In Math, students identified equal parts with fractions. In Social Studies, students learned about culture.

Week of February 3rd

In Writing, students began planning and writing their fairy tale adaptation for Little Red Riding Hood or The Three Billy Goats Gruff. In Reading, students identified characteristics of folktales. In Math, students finished up finding the area of rectangles. In Social Studies, students created maps of states in the United States.

In Writing, students began making story maps for different adaptations of Cinderella. In Reading, students read Greek myths and identified what characteristics make them a myth.
